September,1999
Phyllis B. Shabad, principal of CareerMasters,
presented a workshop at a major national career conference in New Orleans. The conference
was attended by professional resume writers and career experts from across the U.S.
and is co-sponsored by the National Resume Writers’ Association and the Wall Street
Journal’s National Business Employment Weekly. Phyllis delivered back-to-back workshops
on Developing Professional Career Portfolios and trained professional
resume writers to develop this tool for their clients.

at Borders Books on Career Power: Igniting Your Job Search With Cutting-Edge
Strategies and Tools. As a nationally recognized speaker, resume writer and
career coach, she presented an informative and lively talk on trends, ideas and current
strategies for job search and career transition. Topics covered were

- What are the modern looks and styles
of resumes
- How to write and Internet resume and
broadcast it
- What is the secret marketing tool you
should use which no one else is using
Before the presentation was over, Phyllis
had the audience interact with each other and practice some of the techniques that
she spoke about. Active engagement with groups that she speaks to is the hallmark
of her training style and keeps her in demand as a speaker. Nobody is allowed to fall
asleep!!
April, 1999
Phyllis spoke on a live local news broadcast
about making career transitions and encouraged listeners to overcome obstacles in
thinking that block them from change. She suggested that, although there are definite
challenges, a carefully strategized plan and appropriately positioned marketing documents
can make a transition smoother. Phyllis commented on the lifestyles and goals of the
baby boom population and predicted a growing trend away from the retirement profile
of the previous generation.

lead article entitled Downsizing on the Upswing. Phyllis is quoted on
how to make a layoff pay off, and describes what job hunters should expect from a
good outplacement counselor.

jobs. Phyllis offers solid advice to executives and managers on expanding their opportunities
and dealing with the fear of reinventing yourself. She further advises
on the negotiation process, gaining family support and using interviews to "increase
